Morel has unveiled the Elate Carbon Neo series, a new generation of its Elate Carbon car-audio component speakers. Rather than a ground-up redesign, the company says it focused on lower distortion and greater efficiency, and the line comes in two tiers: the installation-friendly Elate Carbon Neo and the premium Elate Carbon Neo Pro.
The drivers use Morel's TLC triple-layer carbon-fiber and Rohacell composite cones and a large external voice-coil architecture, finished with CNC-machined brushed-aluminum detailing. The lineup includes the ECN MW6 woofer rated at 180 watts RMS, the ECN MW9 woofer at 200 watts RMS, and the ECN MM3 midrange at 120 watts RMS and 87 dB sensitivity. Systems are offered in 6.5-inch and 9-inch woofer sizes in two-way and three-way configurations, active or passive.
The difference between tiers is the tweeter. The Neo uses the MT-550, rated at 130 watts and 90 dB sensitivity, while the Neo Pro steps up to the ECN Alto at 180 watts and 91.5 dB, which adds a new ASW anti-standing-wave rear chamber intended to reduce internal resonance and distortion. Passive systems use Morel's MXT280C two-way and MXT380C three-way crossovers, with bi-wire and bi-amp capability. Pricing and availability were not disclosed in the announcement.
Why it matters for tuning: sensitivity figures like 90 dB versus 91.5 dB only describe how loud a speaker plays for a given input, and a 1.5 dB gap is small and easy to erase with a gain adjustment, so it won't change how you tune. What does matter is the bi-amp option and the active versions: giving each driver its own amplifier channel lets a DSP set crossover points, slopes, time alignment and per-driver EQ independently, which is where a three-way system gains the most. If you run these passively, start from the supplied crossover and measure before touching EQ; if you go active, set the midrange and tweeter high-pass points first and check the overlap with a sweep at the driving seat.
Morel's Elate Carbon Neo series was announced on October 1, 2026. Buyers will need to check with Morel dealers for pricing and ship dates, and the new tweeter chamber design is the detail to watch when independent measurements arrive.
