Elipson has introduced the Classic Sub series, three active subwoofers for hi-fi and home theatre built around fibreglass-cone drivers, bass-reflex enclosures and class-D amplifiers. The range starts with the Classic Sub 8 (8-inch driver, 150 W, €299), steps up to the Classic Sub 10 (10-inch, 200 W, €499) and tops out with the Classic Sub 12 (12-inch, 300 W, €699).
Quoted frequency response (±3 dB) runs from 37–200 Hz on the 8, 29–160 Hz on the 10 and 25–160 Hz on the 12. All three include a DSP bass boost of roughly +6 dB at 33 Hz, a 12 dB/octave subsonic filter at about 22–23 Hz, an adjustable crossover (40–200 Hz on the 8, 40–160 Hz on the 10 and 12) and a 0°/180° phase switch. Stereo RCA inputs double as a mono LFE input, and a line output allows daisy-chaining.
Why it matters for tuning: the phase switch and crossover are the controls that decide how the sub blends with your main speakers, and the bass boost can easily over-emphasize a room mode if it is left on by default. Measure with the boost off first, then flip the phase switch and compare sweeps around the crossover frequency — the setting with the smoother, deeper sum is the one to keep.
Elipson’s announcement, as reported by retailer Son-Vidéo on October 13, gave pricing but no firm release date, and no companion app or wireless connectivity was mentioned. Treat the published frequency figures as manufacturer claims; in-room response will depend heavily on placement.
